OUR TEAM
The Sama Collective brings together a team of clinicians with extensive experience across psychiatry, psychology, and multidisciplinary care. Our work is grounded in collaboration, shared understanding, and a commitment to meaningful, lasting change
The Founding Team
Dr. Sanveen Kang
Clinical Psychologist
- Doctor of Clinical Psychology, Australia
- Master of Clinical Psychology, Australia
- Post Graduate Diploma (Psychology), Australia
- Bachelor of Science (Psychology), USA
- Registered with the Singapore Register of Psychologists (SRP) & Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), APS Clinical College and Singapore Psychological Society (SPS)
Dr. Sanveen Kang is the founder of Psych Connect and has spent many years working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families across complex emotional, behavioural, developmental, and relational presentations.
Her approach integrates psychological, relational, developmental, systemic, and multidisciplinary perspectives. She works closely with families and teams, recognising that change rarely happens in isolation and that lasting progress often depends on understanding the wider system around a young person.
Her work is rooted in depth
She does not approach individuals as isolated problems to be solved. She understands them as people shaped by patterns, environments, relationships, internal experiences, and histories that have developed over time. Her work pays close attention not only to what is happening, but to what is maintaining it.
known for
She is particularly known for her work with cases where things feel stuck and ability to hold complexity without rushing to oversimplify it.
- Situations where therapy has helped, but not enough.
- To sit with uncertainty.
- To understand before intervening.
- Where patterns keep repeating.
- Where progress is hard to sustain.
- To make sense of what feels fragmented or overwhelming.
- To help families see the deeper patterns beneath what is happening on the surface.
- Where emotional struggles, functional difficulties, family dynamics, and developmental complexity are all interacting at once.
At the heart of her work is a simple belief:
That people are not broken. But often overwhelmed, unsupported, dysregulated, or misunderstood. And that with the right conditions, meaningful change becomes possible.
Dr. Kamini Rajaratnam
Senior Consultant Psychiatrist
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
- Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore
- Accredited psychiatrist with the Specialist Accreditation Board, Ministry of Health
- Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK)
Dr. Kamini Rajaratnam brings deep clinical experience across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency psychiatry.
Her work has spanned some of the most acute and complex environments within mental health care. She understands risk, instability, psychiatric complexity, and the urgency that can arise when individuals are in significant distress. This gives her a grounded and highly developed understanding of when stabilisation is needed, when medication is indicated, and when a presentation requires closer psychiatric oversight.
At the same time, her approach is not limited to diagnosis or symptom management alone.
- She works with a broader understanding of mental health, one that considers biology, lived experience, developmental history, environment, lifestyle, and relationships.
- She sees the person behind the presentation and understands that mental health difficulties rarely occur in isolation from the context in which someone is living.
Families often come to her when things feel overwhelming, confusing, or unclear. She is known for her steadiness, thoughtfulness, and ability to bring clinical clarity without losing sight of the human experience underneath it.
Her approach
- Her approach is structured, but never rigid.
- Clinical, but deeply compassionate.
- Grounded in expertise, but never impersonal.
- She believes that recovery is not about fixing someone. It is about helping them move toward greater stability, agency, and wellbeing with the right care around them.
