If your child or young adult is no longer functioning well in daily life and therapy has not been enough, this may be the right level of care. The best place to start is with a consultation so we can understand what is happening and whether this model is appropriate.
The Sama Collective may not be appropriate in certain situations.
This includes:
- individuals who require inpatient care or continuous supervision
- situations involving immediate or unmanaged safety risks
- cases where support cannot be safely provided in an outpatient setting
- situations where family involvement is not possible or not appropriate to the model.
In these cases, we will guide families toward the most appropriate level of care.
Resistance is common, especially when young people are overwhelmed, avoidant, or discouraged. We work with families to understand the meaning of that resistance and how to respond to it. Refusal does not automatically mean support is not needed.
Yes. Young adults can engage independently. Where appropriate, family involvement is still encouraged because support systems often play an important role in lasting change.
We work with emotional dysregulation, anxiety, depression, school refusal, university disengagement, difficulty starting or sustaining work, executive functioning challenges, avoidance, trauma related difficulties, family conflict, and complex situations where standard therapy has not been enough.
No. This is not a replacement for inpatient care when inpatient treatment is clinically necessary. It is designed for individuals who need more than traditional outpatient therapy, but whose difficulties can still be safely managed in an outpatient setting.
We monitor risk and functioning carefully. If a higher level of care becomes necessary, we will support families in understanding that and guide them toward the most appropriate next step.
The program is structured and requires consistent engagement.
It typically runs over 16 weeks, with the exact schedule tailored to individual needs. Families should expect a meaningful level of commitment, with multiple sessions per week as part of a coordinated, multidisciplinary plan.
Yes, family involvement is a central part of the model when developmentally and clinically appropriate. We do not see families as separate from the process of change.
The difference is not simply more appointments. It is the level of integration, structure, multidisciplinary collaboration, family involvement, and focus on real world functioning
No. We work with children, adolescents, and young adults, including those who are in university, have recently graduated, or are struggling to start work and move into adulthood.
